General

What ages of children do you accept? Sweet Peas Village is a privately owned corporation serving children ages 6 weeks to 11 years.  We also offer before and after school care for children in kindergarten through 5th grade.

What are your hours of operation? We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00a.m. to 5:15p.m.  We provide full day care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.  We also provide before and after school care for children enrolled in kindergarten through 5th grade.

Do you provide half-day care options? Yes!  Our Nursery School program is open Monday through Friday from 9:00a.m. to 12:30p.m.  The program is available to toddler & preschool age children.  For many, this is their first journey away from home.  With nurture and guidance they quickly settle into the routines and fun nature of the environment.

Do you provide meals & snacks? Yes!  We provide provide breakfast, morning, and afternoon snacks which include fresh fruits & vegetables.  We are happy to offer a hot lunch program for an additional fee in association with Wild Harvest Bakery & Cafe.  Lunch menus are provided each week for your convenience.  Infant teachers will follow daily feeding schedules provided by the parents.

Are you a peanut free  school? As of June 2019 Sweet Peas Village will be a peanut & tree nut free school.  We ask that you carefully read all packaging information on food sent from home, including food provided for individual children and items brought in to be shared with the classroom.

Policies & Procedures

Can my child bring his favorite blanket or toy? Your child is more than welcome to bring in his or her favorite blanket to  school to use during rest time.  However, we ask that children do not bring toys from home in order to prevent damage or loss.  Parents will be notified of any special days, such as “show & tell,” when a child can share a special item.

What happens if we’re late to pick-up or need to miss a day due to vacation or illness? All programs end at 5:15p.m.  At that time, any child who has not been picked up will go to our late room accompanied by a teacher.  Our school closes at 5:30p.m. and a $25 fee will be assessed to your account for every fifteen minutes your child is here after that time.  If a child is sick from school or on vacation make-up days are not permitted and tuition will not be adjusted.

What is the health policy? Sweet Peas Village has strict policies to control the spread of infection.  Only children in good health should be brought to school.  Parents are required to have a pre-admission physical exam form completed by the child’s physician and on file by the child’s first day of attendance.

Can parents drop by whenever they’d like or swing by to breastfeed? Sweet Peas Village maintains an “open door” policy.  We welcome parents to volunteer or spend time in the classroom with their children, including breastfeeding their infant.

Health & Safety

What security measures do you take to provide safety to the children? The Main Building and The Annex use a touch screen system with id and pass codes to allow entrance into the schools.  To ensure that each child is safe & supervised at all times each parent must accompany their child into the classroom.  If a different person from the usual is picking up your child, the school must be notified in writing with that person’s name.  Anyone picking up your child for the first time must show proper identification.

Do you close for snow days? Sweet Peas Village will remain open on most days when public schools are closed or delayed due to snow.  Announcements will be on WJAR Channel 10 and www.turnto10.com

What’s your sick policy?  What are you policies regarding immunizations? Children who have contagious conditions must be kept at home until all symptoms have cleared and for 24 hours after a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea.  All children are required to have proper immunizations, and immunization & physical forms must be on file and updated as needed.

What if my child needs medicine while at school?   Any medications that must be administered while the child is at school must be sent in its original, labeled bottle, hand delivered to a Director and signed in the medication log book.

Are staff members CPR certified? Yes!  Our teachers attend workshops for the American Red Cross & First Aid and are certified in CPR.

Registration & Enrollment

What are your tuition rates? Tuition rates are made available in person.  We encourage all prospective parents to come in and tour our facilities and further discuss rates & registration.  

What types of payments do you accept? Tuition Express is our third party automatic payment plan.  We also accept cash and check payments.

How long is the waitlist? The waitlist varies depending on the age of the child and when you are looking to enroll.  We strongly recommend coming in for a tour and placing yourself on the waitlist as soon as possibly since availability changes from day to day.

What do I need to do to register my child? Children are enrolled on a first come first serve basis.  At the actual time of enrollment each application will be accompanied by medical forms, a non-refundable registration fee, permission release forms and child information forms.  A deposit of two weeks tuition must accompany the application.  The deposit will be applied to the last week your child attends the program, provided we are given two weeks notice of withdrawal, or your deposit is non-refundable.
