The Honeysuckle classroom provides children with stimulation for all their senses in a challenging atmosphere that fosters each child’s development. Children are introduced to American Sign Language for frequently used words such as “more” and “all done” while hearing the spoken word. Teachers communicate the events of the day as they unfold so as to give meaning to their actions. Daily activities involve sensory and art time to develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, music and movement to introduce sound concepts as well as instruments or puppets for oral and visual stimuli, and outdoor time to develop gross motor skills. Young children learn best through play which enables them to gain insight into the world around them through free exploration.
